Scaler-Timers/Digicounters and GM Tubes

Picture the scene: The radioactive sources are ready, your faithful old S-Range Scaler-Timer is dusted off, your lovely new GM Tube Holder has arrived and…you realise the new Holder does not fit your old Timer. Frustrating? Yes. Unfixable? Certainly not.

The screw-on PET connector on the old S-Range Scaler-Timers and Digicounters became obsolete, so a number of years ago we updated our models to use BNC connector, which is much more widely available. Our GM Tube Holders also use a BNC, so current models are compatible with each other. However, it does mean a new Holder and older Timer might not connect.

But never fear, Tech Support are here, and we have a couple of options for you.

You could, of course, buy a new Scaler-Timer or Digicounter with BNC sockets to suit your Holder. However, we know budgets are ever tighter and replacing a working counter just because of its socket is not an always an option.
