Time – speed – acceleration
Speed, distance and time are intrinsically linked. Want to know your average speed? Simply divide your total distance by the time taken. Want to know how far you’ve travelled? Simply multiply your speed by the time taken. What about how long you’ve been travelling? Yes, you’ve got it, divide distance by speed.
Our NEW and exclusive TSA unit is perfect for helping students understand the concept and relationship of the three variables: speed, time and distance. With touch screen technology making it faster and easier to operate, it is the ideal tool for lab measurements in kinematics.
7 different modes available
Interval Timer – this mode measures the length of time that a light beam has been cut or a switch has been closed.
General Timer – this mode is used to measure the time at which an event happened, up to 8 events can be measured.
Gap Timer – this mode is used to measure the time interval between events on DIFFERENT input channels.
Fast Timer – this mode can be used to display a time interval between 10 micro-seconds and 99.999 milliseconds.
Speed – this mode is used to measure the speed of a vehicle as it passes through a light gate.
Acceleration Data – which gives students two values of velocities and the time intervals between the two, this mode is used to develop the concept of acceleration with students.
Acceleration – in this mode only a value for acceleration is displayed. This mode can be used once a student is familiar with the calculation for acceleration.
Debounce Delay – the default debounce delay should be sufficient for most experiments, however this can be changed should the switch bounce cause problems when trying to measure events.

Measuring the speed or acceleration of a vehicle using the TSA
TSA makes learning about motions and forces visual and hands on. Explore the GCSE Physics required practical for Acceleration, or measure the speed of a vehicle using different variables.
Light bridge, light gate source and receiver can be purchased separately or as part of a bundle.
