Joule Gun by Lascells
Joule Gun by Lascells
Product code: B8R07370
Product Description
This highly original apparatus offers an exciting application of topics such as energy storage, capacitor charging, mechanical energy, efficiency and electromagnetism.
The control box provides five high value capacitors which can be switched into the charge circuit as required. When the FIRE button is pressed the energy stored is released as a pulse into a low resistance coil to fire a small steel projectile.
- Variables include, voltage, time, capacity, distance, kinetic and potential energy.
Applicable to many topics at GCSE and Post-16.
- Includes a 15 page experiment booklet.
- Dimensions: 220mm x 110mm x 80mm excluding coil.
- Key Stage 3 Physics - Energy: Comparing power ratings of appliances in watts (W, kW). Comparing amounts of energy transferred (J, kJ, kW hour)
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Electricity: Power transfer related to p.d. and current, or current and resistance
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Energy: Power as the rate of transfer of energy.
- Key Stage 4 Physics: Calculating energy changes involved on heating, using specific heat capacity; and those involved in changes of state, using specific latent heat.
